1. Start with an existing lab
This course assumes VICIdial is already installed and working. You need an authorized practice system, its HTTPS Admin and Agent addresses, administrator credentials, a headset and a browser supported by its phone setup.
The lab owner must provide a working phone configuration and confirm that your browser trusts the lab connection. Installing VICIdial and preparing browser audio are separate technical tasks.

2. Confirm the internal echo route
Ask the lab owner to prepare and test internal destination 19001001. It must answer and return your voice within the lab, without the digits being sent to a carrier. This is a course-specific route, not a built-in VICIdial number.
The practice leads use phone number 9001001 and phone code 1; the campaign combines them as 19001001.

3. Write down the practice details
Reserve unused names for the records you will create: group LABTEAM, user learner1, phone 8001, campaign LAB01 and list 90001. They do not need to exist yet.
Ask the owner for a phone configuration sheet: server, protocol, required defaults and any template applied after saving. Also get the webphone address, how to join the agent conference, its connected indicator, the lab time zone and practice hours. Keep passwords private.

4. Check readiness
Use this list with the lab owner before continuing.
- The practice system is installed and I have its addresses and Admin access.
- The phone setup works, and I have the template details and a headset.
- The owner has tested internal echo route 19001001 and confirmed it stays inside the lab.

5. If something is missing
Ask the lab owner to complete the missing setup using the linked guides. Return to this course when the station and echo route are working.
